Putney, London

Putney is known for its picturesque riverside location and its vibrant high street, which is home to a range of shops, restaurants, and pubs. The area also has several green spaces, including Wandsworth Park and Putney Heath, which offer opportunities for outdoor activities such as jogging and cycling. Putney is a district located in the southwest of London, England, within the London Borough of Wandsworth. It is situated on the south bank of the River Thames, approximately 6 miles southwest of central London, and is bordered by the areas of Roehampton, Wandsworth, and Fulham.

The area has a rich history, dating back to the Roman era, when it was part of a major road connecting London to the south coast of England. During the 19th century, Putney became a popular residential area for wealthy Londoners, and many of the large houses and mansions from this era remain today. In addition to its residential areas, Putney is also home to several schools, including the prestigious Putney High School for girls. The area is well-connected to other parts of London, with several train and bus routes serving the area, including Putney Station, which offers services to Waterloo, Clapham Junction, and Richmond. Putney is also famous for its rowing heritage, with the annual Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race starting from Putney Bridge, which attracts large crowds of spectators every year.
